Astons Performing Arts Club (APAC)

APAC is planning to hold regular, monthly film screenings on the first Wednesday evening of each month. Please come along and support the club at these screenings. If you have any suggestions of favourite films, we would more than happy to hear them!

Our next screening is on Wednesday, 3rd May when we will be showing the cult classic, Withnail & I (1987, dir. Bruce Robertson). Described as “the finest cult film known to humanity”, two struggling, unemployed actors decide that some respite is in order and so depart their miserable flat for a week in the Lake District. Their trip away will involve rain, booze, minimal supplies, a randy bull and an even randier Uncle Monty!

Based on the real-life experiences of former actor-turned-director, Bruce Robinson, Withnail & I has become one of British cinema’s most fondly remembered comedies and in the truest sense, has become a classic. Perfectly cast with career-defining roles for Richard E. Grant, Paul McCann, Richard Griffiths and Ralph Brown, this is one to sit back and enjoy, “even if you are watching it for the umpteenth time”.

Bring your own refreshments and a cushion! Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start. Free to APAC members; £4 for non-members.

Watch out for more events coming up throughout the year. In the meantime, please spread the word, become a member of APAC (contact Marcus on if you haven’t done so already, and many thanks from all the committee for your continued support.
