Astons Artists
The Astons have a strong creative network, with a history of coordinated exhibitions in May Oxfordshire Artweeks. In 2024 four venues opened, with eleven exhibitors showing all sorts of paintings, wood engravings, photography, ceramics and jewellery. We had about 400 visitors over two weekends. Astonishing, considering the small size of the village and very friendly, plus a great walk around attractive locations. We call ourselves, loosely, ‘Astons Artists’, and support each other with our experience, contacts and publicity.
As part of Oxfordshire Artweeks 2026 eight of us will be exhibiting in three village venues. All opening at the same time 11am - 6pm over two weekends in May: Saturday 2nd, Sunday 3rd and Monday Bank Holiday 4th. And then Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th.
Anna Dillon needs no introduction here - see her paintings in her studio at Hathersage in Aston Street, with those of Rebecca Carrozza, both part of the Springline project. That’s with Hedley Thorne’s drone photography.
Caroline Vivian will show her paintings again in her barn at Finches, Baker Street, with the wood engravings of Debs Sutcliffe and the ceramics of Sarah Keogh.
Susanna Brunskill’s paintings will be in her cottage garden studio at Twitten in Aston Street, with the pottery of Mel Edwards, recently moved to the area from Wiltshire.
