About
This website is for the conjoined villages of Aston Tirrold and Aston Upthorpe which are locally known as The Astons.
The website was built between 2014 and 2017. The core web development team was Anna Dillon, Peter le Conte and Bruno Brunskill. There was widespread community involvement firstly in agreeing the site map, then a number of neighbours became page editors for Astons organisations and finally ten volunteers checked the test site for errors just before going live on 19 April 2017.
The Astons has had a website using the same URL since the 1990's. The previous site was html based and only one busy person was reliably competent to maintain the site. It was important, therefore, to have a new site that many people could administer and edit. Webboutiques of Oxford was eventually chosen as the provider; they have provided a helpful service to the web development team.
