Astons’ Playground Redevelopment

For those that were unable to make the Open Morning in February we wanted to try and present the plans for the Astons’ Playground Redevelopment. In summary:

  • All the plans included a zip wire, but this would have to be located outside of the playground area.
  • One set of plans included a basket swing, the other a gravity bowl.
  • Both included springers.
  • Then for the multi tower construction, one proposal is to have one that would cater for all ranges (picture a) (below) and the other would have two, one for the younger children and one for the older ones (picture b) below.)

    Picture B

Please be aware that all the proposals cost £30-40,000, so there is a limitation to just how much we can do. We are working hard to gain grant funding to help deliver this project, for which your support is essential.

We would love your thoughts on these plans. If you could complete the attached questionnaire and email to joannaandchris@btinternet.com or drop into The Gate House on Aston Street, we would be very grateful. Alternatively, if you are keen to support the Redevelopment of the Playground, we would be very grateful if you would complete a support form and email to joannaandchris@btinternet.com or drop into The Gate House on Aston Street.

THE ASTONS COMMUNITY WIFI PROJECT - BT RACE TO INFINITY

We are pleased to say that SODC have recently approved in full the grant application made by the Village Hall Management Committee for £8,000 towards the Astons Wifi and Online Initiative.

This grant, together with the BT Race to Infinity prize of £3,000, means that the project team have nearly reached the total project cost, and therefore it is hoped that installation can commence once the outcome of outstanding grant applications to the Nominet Trust and the parish councils is known. Please see village newsletter for more details.
